Our trip is just three weeks away!! CRAZY!! And our $1500 in 150 hours campaign has just a few more days left…
For those new to our blog, Liz and I (Blanca) are planning a trip around the world. Basically, we will be meeting up with various NGO’s (Non-Government Organizations) and learning about the work they are doing, and the issues facing people in various countries. Our desire is to serve the people we visit, and to help raise awareness about life around the world. One of our goals is to publish a coffee table book of photos and stories based on the experiences we have and the people we meet. We will be gone for 7 weeks, and fly out on December 28.
The article read, “In February, the price of a loaf of bread in the country was less than 200,000 Zimbabwe dollars. On Monday [August 18], that same loaf of bread cost 1.6 trillion Zimbabwe dollars.”
So why $1500? Well, we were advised by our contacts there to take in a van-load of goods in order to hopefully eliminate any sort of obstacles to let us into the country. And with the continuing collapse of their economy, the orphanage relies on donations every day, and just trusts that the Lord will provide…
So, we’re doing this in order to make you aware of the situation in Zimbabwe. And to ask you to consider donating to our desire to help.
I know there are so many great causes out there, and that money might be tight, especially with the holidays around the corner. But even your smallest donation WILL make a difference. Right now, we’ve raised about a tenth of our goal… The 150 hours ends at 6:00pm December 11. That’s just a few days away!!
